"It's only happiness", swimmers come back to life with the reopening of swimming pools - 20 Minutes

  • The municipal swimming pools reopened on Monday in Bordeaux.
  • Swimmers must deal with the new sanitary rules in the locker rooms as well as in the pools.
  • Some facilities still closed to the public could quickly reopen, especially for the summer when attendance is likely to increase.

There are waves again in the pools of the Georges Tissot swimming pool in Bordeaux. Rather wavelets for the moment. Health crisis obliges, there is not yet really crowd in the water. But it doesn't matter: "It's nice to get in the water even if at the muscular level, it's complicated. It stings a little! "Laughs Thomas with his friend Valentin. The two young men are chaining the lengths for the first time in three months and “it's just happiness! "

This Monday, like many Bordeaux residents, they finally found their swimming pool. A totally refurbished swimming pool due to the Covid-19 epidemic. If the mask is not mandatory, it is highly recommended from the front door. The swimmers must then follow a whole signposted course in the corridors, the changing rooms and the showers before finally taking a dip. But there too, nothing is as before. Patrick Maisonniaud and his teams had to reorganize the large pool:

“It's very simple, we have six water lines. These six water lines are cut into two zones so swimmers go in one line and return in the other line. "

In all, 15 people can swim at the same time in these two water lines, that is to say half as much as usual.

Some equipment still closed

On the other side, the small basin also experienced some changes. It has been divided into five zones to accommodate families: five people maximum per zone. The slide is open but you have to wash your hands with hydroalcoholic gel before each descent. All this of course while respecting physical distancing throughout the enclosure. But these measures, Thomas does not find them "restrictive because there are not many people, for the moment therefore there is a lot of space and it is pleasant".

While some areas, especially the outdoor areas, have not yet reopened, the Georges Tissot swimming pool is currently able to accommodate a maximum of 60 people at the same time in 1 hour and 15 minutes slots (instead of 340 in normal times). Between each time slot, Patrick Maisonniaud's teams have half an hour to disinfect everything. Everything is rolling. The question now is how will it be when there will be a lot more crowds, especially this summer? But in the meantime, it's already good to be able to take a dip!
