30,000 euros reward for finding the author of the deadly bear shooting

• A bear was found shot dead Tuesday in Ariège.

Bids go up. After announcing Thursday that it offered the sum of 10,000 euros for any information on the death of the bear found in Ariège at the beginning of next week, the NGO Sea Shepherd indicated on Monday that this "poacher's bonus" now rises to 30,000 euros.

Since then, Julien Muller, the founder of the Pet Alert network, has followed suit and decided to offer 10,000 euros in reward and a wildlife protection association based in Alsace has announced that it will contribute 2,000 euros.

It is not the first time that Sea Sheperd has used this process. Last year, she did the same to find the perpetrators of the beheading of seals in Finistère. Two sailors had thus been found and will soon be tried.

Headwind breeders

"If this reward system is uncommon in France and has been able to surprise, never, in any other country where Sea Shepherd has used this process, such a spontaneous overbidding had not taken place. This means that people are fed up that a few take the right to destroy the little that remains of wild life and that justice will never be done, "said the association, which ensures that there is no there is no question of doing justice yourself, "nor of replacing the gendarmes, but on the contrary of helping them to speed up the investigation".

A practice against which the National Sheep Federation was indignant. She asked "the public authorities to react firmly against these nature protection associations, which, it should be recalled, thanks to public subsidies, use taxpayer money for unworthy ends while the breeders try to live with dignity from their profession ”.

On the side of the gendarmerie, the investigation continues while the autopsy unveiled by the public prosecutor of Foix showed that the death was due to a "significant thoracic hemorrhage" well linked to "the use of a weapon fire ".
