Orchestra performance with spectators, first after cancellation of emergency declaration, Kyoto, June 13, 18:30

The small-scale orchestra in Kyoto, which had been postponed due to the new coronavirus, held a concert for the first time in three months, taking measures such as drastically reducing the number of seats. It is the first time for an orchestra all over the country to perform with audiences at the venue after the declaration of emergency has been lifted.

The concert was held at the "Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble".

At the hall in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, in order to prevent the spread of infection, the number of spectators was limited to 100 out of a maximum capacity of 510, and the seats were set so that the front, back, left and right were sufficiently open.

Eleven performers were kept at intervals, string players and piano players wore masks, and transparent acrylic plates to prevent splashing were placed near wind instrument players who could not wear masks.

Five songs were performed at the concert for about two hours, and the audience enjoyed the sounds of the orchestra for the first time in a long time.

According to the "Orchestra," this is the first time that the 37 orchestras nationwide that are members of the Japan Orchestra Federation have performed with a spectator after the emergency declaration was lifted.

A man in his 40s from Wakayama Prefecture said, "I was moved by the live performance after a long time and I was sore. I felt again that music is indispensable."
