Ayuso wants there to be a Fall Fair in Las Ventas. Thus it has been transferred to the crisis cabinet of the bullfighting sector that has met with the president of the Community of Madrid and his team. "She is crazy for giving bulls," say sources present at the meeting. In addition to Autumn, the president also wants to celebrate a charity celebration in honor of the toilets on October 12 in which the Corrida de la Hispanidad is held in Madrid.

Ayuso recalled "the total support of his Executive" to the bullfighting sector in these moments of uncertainty due to the crisis caused by the Covid-19 and has studied with them, among other solutions, fiscal relief measures. "It is a very important sector for Spanish culture , the one that brings the most benefits and is often so unfairly treated from a financial point of view and social recognition," said the president.

The Community of Madrid has already asked the Government to reduce the VAT rate of the fighting bull, from 21% to 4% , to "mitigate the economic losses that many livestock farms are suffering with the suspension or postponement of bullfighting shows" . As reported in a press release by the Community, "this is a measure already included in the plan prepared by the regional government to help farmers and ranchers affected by the crisis."

Díaz Ayuso has assured that they will transfer to Pedro Sánchez the claims of bullfighting professionals, such as, for example, the possibility that brave cattle farmers can join the aid of the Common Agrarian Policy (PAC), dependent on the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; or that the economic benefits that may correspond to bullfighting professionals (bullfighters, bullfighters, banderilleros, picadors, swordmen and aid of swordmen) by the Ministry of Culture and Sports be entered as soon as possible.

A sector that moves 414 million in Madrid

Regarding the competences of the Community of Madrid, the Madrid president has guaranteed that they will continue working to launch initiatives that favor this activity that generates an economic impact of 414 million euros in the region and affects 50,000 jobs. .

In the case of Madrid, this pandemic has forced the regional government to cancel the celebration of the San Isidro Fair, the most important bullfighting event in the world, and which leaves 70 million euros in the Community of Madrid, as Díaz Ayuso explained. . In addition , it has also affected heifers and other celebrations , and both the Bullfighting Museum and the Tour de Las Ventas have been closed.

Therefore, if sanitary circumstances allow it, the intention of the regional government is to be able to celebrate the Autumn Fair as well as a concert or a charity run for the National Holiday, on October 12 , with a double objective: to pay tribute to the professionals, both Public and Private Health, and report the benefits to projects aimed at recovery after the pandemic.

The signing of a protocol with the Madrid City Council is contemplated so that the Bullfighting School can reopen in El Batán from September, if the epidemiological situation is favorable. " We are going to study the promotion of bullfighting values, which goes beyond a bullfight , from caring for the animal in the field, its life, to the values that come with team, effort, courage and sacrifice", Díaz Ayuso has pointed out.

The Madrid Executive "is aware that the paralysis of bullfighting shows is seriously jeopardizing the economic sustainability of many bull fighting farms, ranchers and families living in this sector." For this reason, they will continue "with the aid to the municipalities for the celebration of heifers" for promotion, without picadors, and practical classes in their respective bullrings.

Aid to the sector is maintained

The amount of aid is 206,763 euros per year, the maximum amount per application being 18,000 euros. The Community of Madrid has promised that if this year it is not possible to celebrate them, the subsidies will not be lost and will accumulate to those planned for next year, especially taking into account, as Díaz Ayuso explained, that they have not yet It is known how the municipalities will be able to celebrate the patron saint festivities and that most of them will have to review their accounts to meet the expenses generated by COVID-19.

Madrid was the region of Spain that organized the most bullfights in 2019 with 70 celebrations, representing 20.1% of the total that were held nationwide. This is a similar figure to that recorded in 2018, when 69 bullfighting festivals were recorded. In addition, the bulls in our region represent an important tourist attraction worldwide, as evidenced by the more than 100,000 visits that the Las Ventas tour received last year, and the fighting bull farms help to root the population and revitalize the municipalities rural.

The meeting was attended, in addition to the President of the Community of Madrid, the Minister of the Presidency, Eugenia Carballedo ; the Minister of Finance and Public Function, Javier Fernández-Lasquetty ; the managing director of the Center for Bullfighting Affairs, Miguel Abellán ; right-handers Julián López El Juli , Cayetano Rivera Ordoñez, Andrés Roca Rey , and Cristina Sánchez ; and the president of the Toro de Lidia Foundation, Victorino Martín .
