On May 19, XRey was released , an audio series on the unknown story of King Juan Carlos I and his abdication on June 19, 2014. After a month heading the Spotify list of most listened to podcasts , and without having yet broadcast the All of its 10 episodes, the production will make the leap to television.

According to Deadline , Weekend Studio , the Spanish producer behind the Netflix series Hache , and The Story Lab , creators of this podcast, will turn XRey into a television series.

"Sometimes the most effective way to go unnoticed is to hide in the light. We know the king, let's meet the man," reads the description of the podcast on Spotify, a production by Toni Garrido written, narrated and directed by Álvaro de Cózar .

" XRey has a powerful mix of intrigue, royalty and international power games. This fascinating story, which is captivating listeners on Spotify, is ideal for an adaptation in a great television drama," said Tomás Cimadevilla , president of Weekend Studio, about the project.

At the moment, five episodes of XRey have been broadcast on Spotify, with a new episode premiering every Tuesday until completing the ten. The first two chapters of XRey , A Single Article Law. First and Second part , begin by analyzing the abdication of the King Emeritus. The former head of the Casa del Rey , Rafael Spottorno , and the former director of communication, Javier Ayuso , tell how this unprecedented process was forged and the problems they had in drafting this law.
