The Defender of Rights announced on Wednesday that he had opened an investigation into the arrest of young Gabriel, 14, who accuses the police of hitting him with a serious eye injury.

The teenager was arrested by a crew of four police officers in Bondy on the night of May 25-26 while trying to steal a scooter. According to a police source, he "fell" and "rebelled" when he was arrested.

Blows to the face and back of the head

Gabriel claims that he was kicked three to four times in the face by a police officer while he was on the ground, overpowered and handcuffed. He also says that he received a blow to the back of the skull without being able to precisely identify the author.

Suffering in particular from a maxillary fracture extended to the bone of the left eye, the adolescent was prescribed 30 days of total interruption of work (ITT). Two complaints against the police were filed on May 27 with the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) and on June 2 with the Bobigny Prosecutor's Office.
