Healthcare has detected 167 new cases of coronavirus in Spain in the last 24 hours . The data updated this Wednesday duplicates the 84 infections registered in the previous day. The total number of people affected by the pandemic amounts to 242,280 people, 314 more than on Tuesday. 235 of them have started symptoms in the last seven days.
The official statistics for this Wednesday once again leave the total number of deaths unchanged, which stands at 27,136 people one more day . 40 of them have died in the last week (compared to 50 on Tuesday). The Ministry of Health itself has recognized that this figure, which for months was one of the main indicators of the evolution of the pandemic, has been almost frozen since May 26 - there were then 27,117 deaths - pending the communities to finish date some old deaths.
At the moment, and despite the change in the WHO criteria, the Government only includes in its data the dead who tested positive for coronavirus in a laboratory test. A criterion discussed because it leaves out, for example, a good part of the deceased in residences at the worst moment of the pandemic.
