On June 9, in Lhasa, Tibet, with the roar of roars, two helicopters carrying aircraft seeders flew to the predetermined area. The first large-scale helicopter afforestation on the snowy plateau began.

After investigating and analyzing the climate, vegetation, soil, and flight conditions of the planned aerial seeding area, the expert group from Shaanxi believes that it is feasible to carry out aerial seeding and afforestation in Lhasa and Shannan, Tibet. Tibet plans to invest about 34.9 million yuan to plant 218,000 acres of experimental aerial afforestation in the two places, planting about 119.3 tons of trees (grass) such as sea buckthorn, sand locust, and Artemisia sphaerocephala. The relevant departments will do a good job of follow-up monitoring work, and combine with the actual situation in Tibet to sort out a set of technical measures related to aerial seeding afforestation.

It is reported that the forest coverage rate in Tibet is 12.14%, and the land is sparsely populated. If this 5-year test is successful, the follow-up will greatly accelerate the greening of the snow-covered plateau, and the mixed planting of multiple species will also help to form a composite ecosystem.
