A cell in the Metz prison - POL EMILE / SIPA

A crack that worries. About fifty prisoners from the Metz penitentiary center had to leave their cells this evening after the discovery of a crack in the ground of a center building, announced Monday the management of the prison administration (DAP).

“The 53 detainees in this building and the staff were all evacuated. There were no injuries, ”said the same source, adding that“ the firefighters are on site ”and that the crack is“ linked to an expansion of a concrete slab ”.

A "calm" situation

"The detainees are currently on the promenade," according to the prison administration, which adds that "given the accommodation possibilities of the prison center, they will all be reintegrated into other areas of detention".

This operation, adds the DAP, will be carried out "with the support of the penitentiary intervention team (ERIS), mobilized by the interregional director", the situation however being "calm." "

"An expertise was requested to identify the origin and measure the extent of the disaster," continues the DAP, according to which "all measures are taken to ensure everyone's safety and the continuity of the establishment's activity" .
