Khoja added in statements to the Monday (6/8/2020) episode of the "Beyond the News" program, that the regime worked to limit the funds to a group of those close to it, and the recent dispute with Rami Makhlouf - one of the most prominent businessmen and cousin of President Bashar al-Assad Rather, it is because of the sharing of these funds, considering that the economic crisis in Lebanon strongly affected the Syrian pound.

And he added that the American “Caesar” law requires imposing sanctions on the activities of the Syrian regime and not on the regime itself, considering that it is a scatter of ashes in Laayoune, and that it is just a justification from the American administration for failing the Syrian people and not holding the Syrian regime accountable after it bombed the Syrians with chemical weapons, Many massacres were committed against them.

On the other hand, the journalist Younis Odeh believes that the collapse of the Syrian pound is primarily due to the war that has been waged against Syria for ten years, and he considered that the use of the economic paper is an attempt to bring the regime to service the Zionist entity in the region, and that the imposition of the "Caesar" law by America is from The door to interfering in the affairs of others, stressing that it is not entitled to impose these measures.

Odeh added that the law aims to fight the Syrian people and the Syrian positions on all issues in the region, and he ruled out imposing any solution in Syria without taking the opinion of the people because it is part of the country.

For his part, Director of the Center for the Middle East at the University of Oklahoma, Joshua Landis, said that Washington's goal is to change the Syrian regime.

Landis added that economic sanctions will harm the regime, but the worst affected are the Syrian people, recalling what happened in Iraq in the 1990s when many Iraqis died due to the hunger caused by the siege.

He continued that the European Union demanded the suspension of sanctions due to the Corona pandemic, but the US administration rejected these requests, and believes that the maximum pressure will lead to the collapse of the system.

The "Caesar" law provides for new sanctions against anyone who supports the Syrian government financially, in kind, or technology, and imposes sanctions on Bashar al-Assad and those who provide support to members of the regime.
