  Once, Dai Yunru asked the boy: "Isn't the teacher saying it several times, do you want to bring your own stationery and materials? Why did you forget it?" The boy didn't want to answer the question positively and said he couldn't remember. After class, she learned that when men lived with grandma, their family conditions were average, their parents' education was not high, and some children in school were in a similar situation to him.

  In the next class, she encouraged the boy: "You never miss a class, it is very commendable. For each class in the future, I will reward you with two colored papers, one for the backing paper and one for the paper cutting!"

  Hearing this, the boy did not speak, but suddenly there was "light" in his eyes. Subsequently, under the careful guidance of Dai Yunru, the boy's work achieved a leap from crookedness to semblance, and the sense of discipline in the classroom became stronger and stronger.

  In Baohe District Arts and Sports Center, there are many teachers who have the same experience as Dai.

  In 2002, with the acceleration of the urbanization process, Baohe District changed from "suburban" to "urban", more and more migrants came to settle in the district, and a large number of children of migrant workers entered the city to study, the urban-rural dual structure is prominent Educational resource allocation brings challenges. In 2011, Baohe District had a resident population of about 810,000 people, 51 primary and secondary schools, about 70,000 students in school, and more than 3,400 teachers, but less than 200 arts and physical education teachers.

  The insufficient number of art teachers is also a common problem faced by rural schools and remote and weak schools in cities. In order to break through this bottleneck, in September 2011, Baohe District Education and Sports Bureau explored the establishment of an arts and sports center. 15 famous and key teachers from music, art, sports and other disciplines regularly visited remote, weak schools and rural juvenile palaces. Art and sports courses, set up special interest groups, and use the "shared teacher" path to solve the problem of insufficient teachers.

Rural children are not worse than others, but also have the right and necessity to learn art

  Golden Grape Primary School, located in Dawei Town, Baohe District, Hefei City, was formed by the merger of three local villages. In August 2011, when Dou Haishan served as the principal of this school, this school's family is like this: 400 students, 40 teachers, "There is not a full-time English teacher, let alone a teacher of art and beauty.   Dou Haishan, who came out of the countryside and worked in education in urban and rural schools, especially wanted to create a "paradise for rural children's artistic progress". At that time, with the support of governments at all levels, he decided to set up a village school youth palace. With the venue, equipment, and funds, teachers became a problem. When he was worried, Baohe District established an arts and sports center. According to the demand put forward by Dou Haishan, the teachers of the center came to "relay" to teach, helping to open up many interest clubs, including choirs, drum bands, football clubs, taekwondo clubs, and model airplane clubs that had never been considered before.

  Among them, the most popular thing about Dou Haishan is the drum band.

  When the drum band was founded in 2013, many children had never seen what the instruments looked like, and the music scores were not fully recognized. "A lot of students saw strangers, they all turned their heads down, or walked away when they turned their heads, and they dared not say anything," Dou Haishan recalled.

  Some people questioned that these were all learned by children in the city, and there was no need to work in rural schools. But Dou Haishan felt, "The children here are no worse than others, and they also have the right and the necessity to learn art."

  "Notation, staff, music, voice, rhythm, joint training... Children are not afraid of hard work, they are afraid of no one to guide and encourage." Training is generally arranged in the summer vacation, weekends and after school, Dou Haishan remembers, children practice Very fascinating. There are also some children who are afraid of difficulties and feel that the training is boring, and the teachers encourage: "Come on, everyone is a team, if you are less, the whole performance is not so wonderful!"

  Under the guidance of teachers and experts in the arts and sports center, the children gradually "take the road."

  Two years of training and accumulation have finally been tested. In October 2015, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the school, and the school drums band would spend three days practicing a German country folk song that had never been heard before. In the end, under the guidance of the teachers of the arts and sports center and the experts in the district, a group of farm children played the ballad very well. Their performance "amazes" everyone present. Afterwards, students also presented Merkel with the pulp paintings directed by the teachers of the Arts and Sports Center.

  "Maybe some children will never be engaged in arts and sports work, nor will they be on the stage, but this experience can make them sunny and confident, which is the biggest meaning of learning arts and sports skills." Dou Haishan lamented.

  In 2019, Xu Yanyan, a music teacher and leader of the music teaching and research team at the Primary Three Primary School of Hefei Normal University, came to Golden Grape Primary School to guide choral clubs and competition training. When she rehearsed the song "Me and My Motherland" for the first time with her students, she felt that the students were interested in the chorus and her desire was revealed in her eyes, but it seemed to be "not quite the same" as the students of her own school. "This group of children are more timid and restrained, and even dare not talk to me or communicate, so I changed my strategy, let them recite the lyrics first, mobilize their emotions, and then teach singing techniques."

"Shared teacher" is not just for 40-minute classes

Group development, so that art teachers are no longer "marginalized"

  Many art teachers face the same confusion: being marginalized and not having a strong sense of belonging. In some schools, there is even only one teacher in a subject, and the working atmosphere and ability of teaching and research are lacking.

  How to "activate" the group of art teachers?

  The Education and Sports Bureau of Baohe District has made great efforts. The Arts and Sports Center has formulated a detailed performance evaluation plan and rules and regulations, and established a joint teaching and research group of the Arts and Sports Group to allow teachers of the same subject from different schools and education groups to "consolidate" to carry out teaching and research, and share experience in activities, technologies, and teaching.   "During the teaching process, many teachers combine their specialties with the characteristics of helping the school to continuously improve teaching skills.   At present, Baohe District has a resident population of 1.42 million, 50 primary and secondary schools, and 4919 teachers, of which nearly 600 are art teachers. This number has tripled in 2011.

  Nine years have passed, and nearly 400 teachers have served in the Arts Center. They travel to and from different schools throughout the year. While disseminating advanced teaching methods, they also bring back the experience and reflection of walk-through teaching. Through teaching and research interactions, they have achieved an overall improvement in the level of art teachers. Many young art teachers who were helped early and achieved a level of improvement chose to join the art sports center, changing from recipients to helpers.
