At the microphone of Europe 1, Aurélien Bosc, president of the Pathé Gaumont cinemas, recalled the sanitary measures which the cinemas planned for their reopening on June 22, with a capacity of reception rooms notably limited to 50%. "We hope to be quickly able to return to significantly higher gauges," he said.

While the deconfinement continues day after day in France, the cinemas, they still have not been able to reopen their doors, having to wait until June 22 to welcome spectators again. And if the debate opens on a possible reduction of the sanitary rules, in particular in the school, the rooms prepare their re-entry by taking into account the installation of the essential measures vis-a-vis the coronavirus. "When we hear all the sectors that are starting to think about reducing constraints, we are delighted," reacts to Europe 1 Aurélien Bosc, president of the Pathé Gaumont cinemas, who recalls that, over time, these measures risk to further weaken cinemas.

"More fluidity in our halls"

Concretely, two major measures, specific to the activity of cinemas, are planned. First of all, "the reduction of our gauges, namely the capacity of our rooms, which will be limited to 50% with one armchair out of two". This measure, specifies Aurélien Bosc "aims to generate sufficient physical distance in our rooms, and is very impacting on the way of operating rooms".

The second main measure: staggering the hours. "We will try to have session plans that will allow more fluidity in our halls and our passage areas", explains Aurélien Bosc.

"Very important fixed charges"

On Europe 1, the president of Pathé Gaumont cinemas recalls, however, that "operating over time with a 50% gauge is not possible and desirable", cinemas being establishments "with very high fixed charges". Operating at 50% is a satisfactory first step to restart the machine, but we hope to be quickly able to return to significantly higher gauges, "he said.
