Goodbye 2nd generation "Sarubia Maru" Last stop at Izu Oshima June 7 17:21

The second generation "Sarubia Maru," which has been active for many years on the route connecting Tokyo Takeshiba and the Izu Islands, gave up its role to a newly constructed ship, and made a final stop at Izu Oshima on the 7th.

The second generation "Sarubia Maru" is a large passenger ship with a total length of 120 meters and a passenger capacity of 1500 people. It connected the islands of the Izu Islands for 28 years from 1992, following the first generation "Sarubia Maru".

With the completion of the new third generation, I decided to leave the shipping route and made the final stop at Izu Oshima on the afternoon of the 7th.

The people of the island visited Motomachi Port to see their last appearance, and the third generation "Sarubia Maru", which is undergoing berthing training prior to the start of service at the end of this month, also moored next to it. I added flowers to the last stop.

In addition, the mayor of Oshima-cho presented a thank-you bouquet to the captain of the second generation "Sarubia Maru."

Then, at 2:30 pm on time, the second generation "Sarubia Maru" was sent off by many islanders and left for Tokyo's Takeshiba.

The second generation "Sarubia Maru" will be the last to leave Takeshiba for Miyakejima and Hachijojima on the 25th of this month.
