Nine seasonal workers tested positive for coronavirus in the Gard. Tests were carried out on 338 agricultural workers spread over eleven farms in the municipalities of Beauvoisin, Bellegarde, St-Gilles and Vauvert. Most of them are posted workers not from the European Union, hired by farmers in the region through Spanish temporary employment agencies.

Confronted for more than a week with the discovery of a cluster around Arles, in Bouches-du-Rhône, the ARS of the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region forwarded the report to its counterpart in Occitania.

Hundreds of tests in neighboring departments of the Paca region

The screening campaign began Thursday in Gard. Nine of the first 190 tests were positive. The second wave of screening started on Friday. The results for these 148 other samples must be known at the start of the week.

In the Bouches-du-Rhône and in the Vaucluse, hundreds of tests have been carried out over the past week, of which several dozen have proved positive. According to La Provence , two seasonal workers were hospitalized in Arles, one of whom was in intensive care.
