Born Michel Dimitri Chalhoub, the Egyptian actor Omar Sharif (1932-2015) found his stage name while filming with Youssef Chahine in 1954. It was with the latter that he was presented in Cannes in 1956, playing in the film Black waters.

Then began an international career with the consecration of Lawrence of Arabia in which he interpreted the prince of the desert Ali Ibn Kharish, then Doctor Zhivago . Polyglot, he talks about his relationship to French and how he seduced his first wife by reciting Shakespeare in English!
