At Caudan in Morbihan, victory quickly gave way to doubt. Friday, after an extraordinary CSE at the sub-prefecture of Lorient, the director of La Fonderie de Bretagne Laurent Galmard had indicated that the site, a subsidiary of Renault, would not close. But Sunday, the CEO of the French manufacturer Jean-Dominique Senard sowed doubt by raising the possibility of a sale.

“Clearly I think that this company does not intend to remain in the Renault group. It was clearly said that we were going to open a strategic analysis on this company, and therefore among the solutions that we are going to discuss (…) the sale is part of it ”, he indicated on the set of the Grand Jury RTL-Le Figaro -LCI .

Selling the business would be "nonsense" for the CGT

The CGT, majority in the company, reacted strongly to the words of Jean-Dominique Senard in a press release. “We understand through this message that Mr. Senard intended to close the business, but that it is still alive and well thanks to the mobilization of its employees, local elected officials, the prefecture, the region Brittany ”, indicates the union.

“We are surprised by this erroneous statement. Mr. Senard talks about a change of engine in the coming years, which would make the Foundry of Brittany a company in difficulty. We must reestablish the truth about these words because we essentially manufacture parts for chassis and not for engines, ”adds the CGT, which says that it is“ aware that we need tonnage to continue the activity ”.

The union also closes the door on any resumption of the site. "Selling a Renault company to another manufacturer to make Renault parts is nonsense because we have already experienced it with its consequences," said the union.
