Suspicion of resale of 16,000 masks Arrested company president of Takamatsu 18:23 on June 1st nationwide

The company president in Takamatsu City was arrested on the suspicion that 16,000 masks purchased from an importer were resold while the masks were running out of stock due to the spread of the new coronavirus. Resale of masks has been banned by law from March this year, and it is the first time in the country to be arrested by police.

Mr. Atsushi Fujii, 34, the president of Takamatsu City's cleaning company, was arrested.

According to the police, at the end of April this year, we bought 70,000 masks that seem to be made in China from an importer in Okayama prefecture for about 3 million yen under the company name, of which 16,000 were purchased by Kagawa prefecture and Okayama prefecture. There is a suspicion of violating the Act on Measures to Stabilize the National Life of Japan for resale by adding about 5 yen to each self-employed person.

The police have not made the decision.

Since March, the law has banned reselling masks that have run out of stock due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

Okayama Prefectural Police Headquarters applied this law due to the scale of resale and arrested for the first time nationwide.

According to the investigation so far, the remaining 50,000 of the 70,000 masks purchased were resold by recruiting buyers through SNS etc., and there is a suspicion that 90,000 masks purchased separately were also resold. It seems that they were getting a difference of several hundred thousand yen.

The police are planning to investigate further.
