Atomic bomb victims' list of people all wearing masks due to the influence of the new corona Hiroshima May 20 11:20

At Hiroshima Peace Park, work was performed to remove the atomic bomb victims' lists stored in the memorial from the memorial monument so that it would not be damaged by moisture.

This work is done every year at the time when Hiroshima City was in front of the rainy season.

On the 20th, 19 staff members of the city offered silence in front of the atomic bomb memorial at 8:15 am after the atomic bomb was dropped, and then took out the list stored in the memorial monument and put each on a white cloth. I arranged it in.

The list of 118 books contains the names of the 319,186 people who died by the atomic bombing in Hiroshima by August 5, and the date of their death.

This time, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, everyone worked in masks, flipping through the pages of the roster one by one, and checking whether there was any damage while blowing air.

Every year, the city of Hiroshima called on school excursions and others to visit open air as part of peace learning, but this year it did not call for infection prevention.

Kunio Kono, Chief of the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Damage Countermeasures Department, said, "We were working hard with a feeling of mourning for those who died 75 years before the bombing." .

Beginning next month, a book will be added to add the names of newly deceased people, which will be stored at the memorial monument on August 6.
