  • Since March 17, Lyon Saint-Exépury airport has only operated flights linked to the health emergency.
  • Commercial flights will resume gradually from June 8 to eleven French destinations.
  • Sanitary measures are planned to welcome travelers in good conditions.

After two months of service reduced to the strict minimum, due to the coronavirus, Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport is preparing to return travelers. A very gradual resumption of flights announced for early June.

This will be done "in compliance with government travel authorizations, from June 8," says the company Aéroports de Lyon, which plans to return part of Air France flights to 11 cities. Nantes, Bordeaux and Toulouse will be the first possible destinations from Lyon from the 8th. On the 15th, flights will be relaunched to Brest, Biarritz, Caen, Lille, Nice, Rennes and Strasbourg, then Pau from June 22.

"Each destination will be served three times a week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays," adds one at Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport, where flights operated by the company Twin Jet to Zurich (Wednesday and Thursday) and Stuttgart ( Tuesday and Thursday) must resume from June 15.

Masks, gel, tele consultations

To allow travelers to return in good sanitary conditions, measures have obviously been taken by Aéroports de Lyon. Among them, hydroalcoholic gel distributors will be set up within the terminals as well as mask distributors. For the first passengers, masks will be offered to those who are not yet equipped, add the services of Saint-Ex, recalling that the wearing of the mask is mandatory from 11 years old to travel by plane.

Finally, Vinci Airports, manager of the Lyon platform, has set up medical assistance for passengers. Since May 11, at Terminal 2, an "Information and Medical Assistance Point" is accessible to travelers and staff of companies on the airport platform. Every day, from 8 am to 8 pm, airport doctors, firefighters and prevention officers are mobilized "to provide health information and help identify possible symptoms".

A remote consultation system must also be proposed with a view to resuming flights to put passengers who need it into contact with a doctor, within extremely fast deadlines.
