On the site of the future Iconic complex, in Nice, this Tuesday morning - F. Binacchi / ANP / 20 Minutes

  • After two months of closure, some sites are reactivated in slower configurations.
  • In Nice, the Iconic yard will be at least six months behind schedule.

The cranes do not rotate. And we only hear a few noises between the facades under construction. On the Iconic construction site, the future “diamond” building expected near Nice station, business resumes after two months of interruption linked to the Covid-19 health crisis. But in any case slows down.

“There were more than 50 employees in normal times. They are less than twenty today, explains Cyril Villedieu, the director of the works division at the Compagnie de Phalsbourg, the developer of the future commercial and cultural complex. There were difficulties in obtaining supplies for protection against the epidemic, but also for certain materials, and in particular for the framework. "

Another 30% of construction sites completely stopped

And in these still vague conditions, the site managers, interviewed by Christian Estrosi on Tuesday at the site, were unable to estimate a new precise delivery date. The complex, which was already three months behind the initial schedule, was to welcome the public in January 2021. The mayor (LR) of Nice is counting on "an opening for the last half of 2021".

And he explains that the recovery is complicated in many work areas. "Out of 165 current projects and 43 priority projects identified on our territory, 33 were able to restart immediately" with the deconfinement, says Christian Estrosi. Others, like that of the Ikea store in the Var plain, are being reactivated.

“But 30% of the projects that were launched in the department are still stopped, specifies Laure Carladous, the president of the Federation of BTP 06. Things are a little simpler on small private works. But for large-scale construction sites, preparing for a recovery, in acceptable sanitary conditions, is long and tedious. "
