Mark Ruffalo camps the twins of "I Know This Much Is True". - HBO

  • Mark Ruffalo plays twins in HBO's new shock miniseries I Know This Much Is True .
  • The staggering performance of the ex-star of the Avengers saga  can be seen in France on OCS.
  • From James Franco to Lisa Kudrow, back on these actors who played their fiction double.

Two roles for the same actor! While OCS broadcasts this Monday at 9 p.m. the second episode of I Know This Much Is True , a miniseries in which Mark Ruffalo dazzlingly treats twins with tragic fate. Back on those actors who played their own twins on TV (with a little help from the special effects team)!

Mark Ruffalo in "I Know This Much Is True"

Double shot of Mark Ruffalo in I Know This Much Is True  ! In the television adaptation of the eponymous bestseller of Wally Lamb, the ex-Hulk again plays two characters, Thomas Birdsey, suffering from schizophrenia, and his twin brother, Dominik. In order for this double incarnation to work, Mark Ruffalo first shot the scenes of Dominik. The shooting stopped for six weeks and the actor returned, after losing many pounds, to shoot the scenes of Thomas. In this double role, Mark Ruffalo is astounding, without ever playing. The miniseries in six episodes deserves to be seen just for its performance ... which will undoubtedly bring it into the list of nominees for the Golden Globes and other Emmys.

Lisa Kudrow in "Friends"

All Friends fans know that Lisa Kudrow was playing both Phoebe Buffay and her twin sister Ursula. Rarer are those who know that Ursula existed before the famous Phoebe. Before playing in the cult sitcom, available on Netflix, Lisa Kudrow played Ursula, the waitress oddly distracted from Mad About You ( Mad About You ) , the comedy carried by Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt. The writers have also invited the stars of Crazy about you , Helen Hunt and Leila Kenzie, on the set of Friends in episode 16 of the first season. A colorful  crossover  !

James Franco in "The Deuce"

In The Deuce, David Simon, the creator of The Wire , examines the porn industry in New York in the 1970s. James Franco plays the role of Vincent and Frankie Martino, based on twins who actually existed. Thanks to their bar, their massage parlor and their disco, they served as a facade for mafia activities in Times Square of the seventies. A brilliant series in three seasons available on OCS.

Lizzy Caplan in "Truth Be Told: The Poison of Truth"

In Truth Be Told available on Apple TV +, Octavia Spencer plays Poppy Parnell. She understands that she may have helped put an innocent man (Aaron Paul) behind bars for the murder of a university professor. In order to repair her wrongs, she decides to reopen the investigation and finds herself facing the victim's binoculars, Lainey and Josie. The twins, played by Lizzy Caplan, the female star of Masters of Sex , both have many secrets to hide and a very dysfunctional relationship. Who really needed to kill the father?

Ewan McGregor in "Fargo"

Two Ewan McGregor for the price of one! In season 3 of the Fargo anthology , available on Netflix, the Scottish actor camps the two Stussy brothers. As they are two years apart, Emmit and Ray are not twins, which forced McGregor to adapt to different looks. Emmit is an entrepreneur, imbued with himself, presented as the king of underground parking lots and his mustachioed brother with incipient baldness, Ray, badly accepts the success of his brother. The confrontation of the two enemy brothers will be terrible.

Troian Bellisario in "Pretty Little Liars"

In the sixth season of Pretty Little Liars , Troian Bellisario obviously plays Spencer Hastings, but also Alex Drake, his evil twin. An entire program

Yael Grobglas in "Jane the Virgin"

In Jane the Virgin, available on Netflix, Yael Grobglas plays both Petra Solano and, from season 2, Anezka Archulette, her sinister and clumsy twin, who grew up in a Czech orphanage. At one point, Yael Grobglas plays Petra who pretends to be Anezka who pretends to be Petra ... Are you lost? We, too, are the charm of this series… which is much more than a parody of telenovela.

Jaleel White in "Family Life"

Remember ... in Family Life, Jaleel White embodies the unstoppable Steve Urkel. When the latter understands that Laura Winslow will love him when he is cool, he drinks a potion which transforms him into Stefan Urquelle, his charismatic twin. Steve transforms into Stefan in several episodes of the series, but in the season 7 episode "Send in the Clone", Steve clones and transforms the clone into Stefan, creating a permanent Stefan Urquelle. Jaleel White's dexterity as an actor manifests itself in his portrayal of these two diametrically opposed versions of Steve Urkel.

Sheryl Lee in "Twin Peaks"

In Twin Peaks , available on MyCanal, Sheryl Lee obviously embodied Laura Palmer, but also her brunette cousin Madeleine "Maddy" Ferguson. It is rumored that David Lynch created the character Maddy because he loved working with Sheryl Lee, who only appeared as Laura in too short flashback scenes.
