Tourism is one of the economic pillars of Egypt. With the coronavirus it is at a standstill and the country would lose a billion dollars a month. Coronavirus crisis, tourism at half mast, suspension of funding for the diaspora, the government is asking for its assistance from the International Monetary Fund (aid of 2.77 billion dollars which has just been granted). Cairo has decided to partially reopen its hotels (at 25% of the occupancy rate for the moment) to domestic tourism.
