The first child to die in France of Kawasaki disease , related to Covid-19 , died at the age of 9 last Saturday in a Marseille hospital, health sources said on Friday.
A spokeswoman for the body that brings together the public hospitals in Marseille confirmed to Efe that his death occurred in La Timone.
The boy had suffered cardiac arrest at home and was transferred to the hospital, where he was admitted for seven days.
Serological tests showed that he had been in contact with the coronavirus , although he had not developed symptoms, according to the newspaper "La Provence", which was the one that revealed the case. The first analyzes suggest that his death is exceptional.
In France, 125 cases of children affected by an inflammatory process with the symptoms of Kawasaki disease have been registered since March 1, probably in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.
