Beijing News (Reporter Qi Wang) Recently, many universities in Hong Kong have updated their school calendars for the fall semester of 2020. The reporter noticed that many colleges and universities in Hong Kong will open normally in September. Compared with previous years, many schools have delayed the start of school.

Judging from the school calendar, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University made adjustments to the start of graduate studies in the fall of 2020. In the past years, the opening time of several schools was the first week of September, and this year the opening time of the school was changed to September 7, which was postponed by a week. At the same time, the closing time of several schools was delayed by a week.

City University of Hong Kong's start date for this fall is August 31, 2020, and the first semester of teaching is expected to end on November 28, with no change compared to previous years. The University of Hong Kong is scheduled to start on September 1, 2020, and end the first semester of teaching on November 30. It should be noted that this is the school start time recommended by the school level, and the start time of each major will be determined by itself. It is understood that the earliest majors at the University of Hong Kong are usually medicine and law, and classes have been arranged in August last year.

In contrast, the opening hours of the Open University of Hong Kong in the fall of 2020 have changed significantly. According to the school calendar, the start date for undergraduates and postgraduates has been adjusted to September 28 this fall, and the part-time distance learning courses will officially start on September 21.

At present, the above-mentioned colleges and universities all make clear explanations on the teaching form of the 2020 fall semester. The reporter learned that Hong Kong students enrolled in the fall of 2019 have only conducted face-to-face lectures for more than two months. Since mid-November 2019, all colleges and universities in Hong Kong have converted face-to-face courses into online classes.

According to the epidemic situation in Hong Kong, colleges and universities have successively released plans to resume work and resume classes. The Hong Kong Baptist University said it has gradually opened the school laboratory and studio on May 11. Earlier, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University stated that if necessary and conditions permit, each college will arrange supplementary classes for students who are not in Hong Kong during the spring semester from June 22 to August 1.
