The Part-Dieu center closed until July 10. C. Girardon / 20 Minutes - no credit

The shops located inside the Part-Dieu shopping center in Lyon will not reopen this week. No more than those of the Carré de Soie in Vaulx-en-Velin.

The prefecture of the Rhône issued an administrative closure order on Tuesday in order to prohibit access to it until at least July 10 inclusive for health reasons. With the exception of essential shops, which are the only ones authorized to open to the public.

120,000 square meters of surface at Part-Dieu

No real surprise since the government had already announced the ban on reopening shopping centers over 40,000 square meters. And that of Part-Dieu, often presented as the largest shopping center in Europe, is very much above with an area of 120,000 square meters. "It is easily accessible by several modes of public transport and can generate significant displacements of the population with its 240 shops", justifies the prefecture.

With its 60,000 square meters, the Carré de Soie, considered to be an “important node in public transport for the Lyon metropolis”, is no exception to the rule. Only Confluence and the shops located on the peninsula were able to resume service in Lyon on Monday.
