Second Self-Defense Force Dispatch to the Middle East Area Destroyer "Kirisame" Departure May 10, 14:38

The JMSDF escort ship, which collects information to ensure the safety of ships related to Japan in the Middle East, left the Sasebo base in Nagasaki prefecture on the morning of the 10th.

Departing from the port is the Maritime Self-Defense Force escort ship "Kirisame", which will be the second unit to dispatch the Self-Defense Forces to the Middle East.

Before the departure of the port, a departure ceremony was held on the Kurashima Quay at the Sasebo base in Nagasaki Prefecture, and Kasai Yokota, the first commander of the dispatching unit, reported the departure.

The unit dispatched this time is about 200 members, and since February this year, they replaced the first escort ship "Takanami", which has been operating locally, and gathered the information necessary to ensure the safety of ships related to Japan. It is supposed to hit.

With the spread of the new coronavirus infection, this unit will carry out a PCR test on all the members after leaving the port, stay in the sea near Japan for about two weeks, and confirm that there are no infected people before heading to the site. ..

In addition, when leaving the port such as overseas dispatch, the members' families and guests had attended until now, but this time it was only sent off by the members and no bouquet was presented to avoid contact.

The destroyer "Kirisame" will arrive in the local waters after June and start the mission.
