Ursula Baumgardt, from the language of Goethe to the Peul language
By: Yasmine Chouaki
Wherever you are, confined or not, Rfi the griot machine is there to bring you your weekly dose of stories. And the one who will work in this direction has a very large satchel of lecturer of Fulani and West African Literatures at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris.

Strange and beautiful journey than that of Ursula Baumgardt born German (not far from Frankfurt) and who chose to live in French-speaking African literature. North Cameroon was his laboratory and field of investigation in the 80s, Goggo Addi his reference storyteller and France his land of labor and intellectual perspiration. This much needed plowing work has just resulted in the creation of an ELLAF website , the Digital Encyclopedia of Literature in African Languages, which we will be visiting shortly for En Sol Majeur.
Ursula Baumgardt is professor of “Orality and African literature, Fulan literature” at INALCO, professor of Fulan linguistics, and member of the research team “Plurality of identities, didactics, acquisition and mediation” (PLIDAM).
