Derailment at Chiba Kamogawa Resumed operation on all JR Sotobo lines May 9 at 17:18

The JR Sotobo Line, which had been suspended in some sections due to the derailment accident that occurred in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture on the 8th, said that repair work was completed and safety could be confirmed on the 9th before 4pm. Operation has resumed on all lines.

On the 8th before 4:00 pm, the leading car of the regular 6-car train derailed between Awa-Tianjin Station and Awa-Kamogawa Station on the JR Sotobo Line running in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture.

As a result, the JR Sotobo line was suspended in some sections and operated by bus, but according to the JR East Chiba branch office, the derailed vehicles were removed and the tracks were restored. As a result of the test run, it was confirmed that the safety was confirmed, and the operation was restarted on the whole line at 3:50 pm on the 9th.

The Transportation Safety Commission continues to investigate the cause of derailment.
