JR West Japan's first temporary leave will be implemented May 8 at 17:37 on the new Corona

Since JR West has drastically reduced the number of railway users due to the effect of the new coronavirus, we decided to take a "temporary leave" to temporarily suspend employees. This means that it will be the first time to take a temporary leave since the establishment of the company by the privatization of JR.

According to JR West, "temporary leave" means that station staff, crew members, and employees working at the head office and branch offices take 1400 out of every 16,900 people a day.

This means reducing the number of employees working a day from 10% to 12% at stations, head offices and branch offices, and reducing the number of crew members from 3% to 4%.

This is a measure to respond to the fact that the number of users on both the Shinkansen and conventional lines has dropped significantly due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and the amount of work has decreased.

The period is from May 16th for the time being, and it is said that the policy is to pay 100% of the wages of employees who have taken leave of absence by utilizing an employment adjustment subsidy.

According to JR West, it is the first time to take a temporary leave due to a decrease in the amount of work since the establishment of the company by JR privatization 33 years ago.
