A little boy in overalls, kneeling, brandishes the doll of a super heroine: a nurse wearing a cape, mask and apron decorated with a red cross. In a basket near the child, Batman and Spiderman have been abandoned. This black and white work, titled Game Changer , is Banksy's latest creation. It has just been hung in a corridor of the Southampton hospital (United Kingdom) and will be auctioned for the benefit of the British health care system, the Press association announced on Wednesday.

The street artist thus pays tribute to the nursing staff, on the front line in the fight against the coronavirus. " Thanks for all you've done. I hope it will brighten up the place a bit, even if it is in black and white, ”he wrote in a note to the hospital staff.

The UK is particularly affected by the coronavirus

Once the containment is lifted, the work will be exhibited to the public before being sold at auction. The funds raised will be donated to the British health system, the NHS. Previous works by the artist were sold for several million dollars.

The United Kingdom, one of the countries most grieving by the coronavirus pandemic, recorded Wednesday 30,076 deaths - a number which exceeds 32,000 if we add the deaths for which Covid-19 disease is the probable cause but has not been confirmed by a test.
