“I am convinced that there will be many documentaries about the corona crisis, but the fiction stories are needed too, now more than ever. One of the strengths of the short film, compared to the longer format, is that it can more easily depict the society we are in here and now, ”says Ami Ekström at the Film Institute in a press release.

The short film initiative consists of eight development grants of SEK 25,000 each, which will go to developing short feature film projects.

The support, which can be applied for from May 7, is aimed at script development of short feature films of a maximum of 15 minutes, which must be produced in accordance with the recommendations of the Public Health Authority.

The support can be applied for by a Swedish producer, director or screenwriter who has made at least one "well done and artistically interesting" short film or equivalent from another art type. The deadline for applications is June 14.
