Already tested on April 28 "with success", the device is used this Thursday in terminal 2 of the platform, the only one still open, for "a first punch operation", indicates a spokesman for the airport. "Its use is a prerequisite for the return to service of the terminal and precedes the necessary operations, regular, cleaning and disinfection which it optimizes the beneficial effects", specifies the company Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur.

Technically, the robot, developed by the Danish company UVD Robots and distributed in France by the company Aked, "allows to administer a shock treatment, eliminating almost 100% of bacteria and viruses present in the air or on the treated surfaces". It is used in particular in hospitals.
"Its use is controlled by a specially trained operator and it is only activated by zones, without audience, given the power of the UV light emitted, UVC in fact, which are normally blocked by the ozone layer", says also know the spokesperson.
After this first operation, the robot will return "regularly from June when the limitation to 100 km of travel could allow to accompany a resumption of traffic". This Thursday, only four flights to arrivals and four to departures were scheduled.
