Map of departments on May 3 - Government

The famous card is expected every evening, even if the one that will guide the deconfinement measures will be that of May 7. Sunday evening, the inhabitants of Loire-Atlantique and Mayenne, however, had a good surprise: these two departments were among the few who switched from "orange" to "green". In the region, only the Sarthe is still in an uncertain situation.

If the Pays-de-la-Loire region has so far been spared from the epidemic, this classification is the synthesis of two factors: the rate of emergency visits for suspected Covid and places in intensive care in hospitals. For Loire-Atlantique and Mayenne, the first figure was still too high. It has dropped below the 6% mark in recent days.

Over 350 dead in hospital

In the meantime, the virus continues to circulate on the territory. In Pays-de-la-Loire, 70 people were still in intensive care on Sunday evening, the majority in Loire-Atlantique (22). Since the start of the epidemic, 351 people have died from coronavirus in hospitals in the region. At least 269 victims were recorded in the medical-social establishments of the region, especially in Ehpad.

By May 7, a third indicator will be taken into account to define the color (red or green) of each department: the ability to carry out sufficient tests. On this last point, the Regional Health Agency has been optimistic in recent days with the announced goal of 8,000 tests per day from May 11.
