Two playmobil figurines, hand in hand - sipa

And what a couple! In its new catalog, which announces the “sets” that will go on sale in September 2020, Playmobil notably unveils a whole new range from its History collection. After the Romans and the Egyptians, it is ancient Greece which will have the right to its special figurines (absent from the French catalog unfortunately).

But unlike the Roman and Egyptian historical periods, Greece is treated from the angle of its myths, as the blog Antiquipop observes. The gods of Olympus, the exploits of Hercules, the journey of Ulysses, but also the myth of Daedalus and Icarus are represented. The specialists in cultural representations of antiquity from the blog Antiquipop have also spotted that the Iliad, the famous epic poem of Homer, would be represented through a box featuring Achilles and Patroclus. So a homosexual couple.

Hector absent

For the record, in the Illiade, Achilles and Patroclus together fight the Trojans. When the latter died, Achilles was mad with rage and sorrow. Hector, assassin of Patroclus is not represented in the Playmobil set, but Achilles is well mounted on his chariot. The same one with whom he would drag Hector's corpse, out of revenge, around the ramparts of Troy. The Hector figurine is however absent from the set.

Those who doubt the veracity of the Homeric narrative will be able to borrow the DeLorean from Doc and Marty in  Back to the Future , also on the 2020 program, to see for themselves.
