• Design.Architectures against covid 19

A month ago, architecture and design magazines were full of proposals aimed at creating treatment units for coronavirus sufferers. Now, as the concern shifts from the health emergency to the uncertainty about what life will be like in "the new normal" , the designs are others, they are accessories that allow us to make a life similar to what we had before.

A simple example to understand is Microshell , a mask, bib and sleeve set created for going out at night. And not because of the prototype's fluorescent colors , but because the mask includes ducts designed to be able to drink and vape through them. The author of the invention is Production Club, a Los Angeles company that designs concerts, and a Barcelona player named Miguel Risueño is one of its promoters.

It is not clear that we will take longer to take a plane than to go out at night. Will the routine change inside the booths? The Italian firm Aviointeriors has launched a proposal that takes the name of Janus, the Roman god of two faces, and that arranges the tourist class seats in an alternate direction (some look forward, others back) with a partition that separates them . With this solution, it is assumed that the capacity of the planes does not decrease.

'Here comes the sun', a solution for picnics by Paul Cocksedge.

A more domestic problem: doorknobs and door handles, considered one of the classic sources of infection . Several firms have launched how do you call them? portable handles covers that are placed on the doors and prevent the hand from having direct contact with the original part. Some (like Materialize's or Matteo Zallio's, in the image) can be printed in 3D.

Joe Doucet's personal protective equipment.

Another simple situation: go to the field or to a park and snack on the grass. Londoner Paul Cocksedge has invented a circular fabric that ensures guests are no less than two meters away . The template can be downloaded and made at home and can be adapted to surround a tree that will shade the participants in the picnic.

All that remains is to consider the human need for sophisticated and sumptuous designs. Joe Doucet, a New York designer, is the author of one of the high-end personal protective equipment whose images are already circulating around the world. According to Soucet, his prototype is, in addition to being elegant, very comfortable.
