Usually, Chanot Park hosts orientation forums or medical seminars. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has just turned into a textile factory. A fabric mask manufacturing unit is at work in three of the halls of the Parc des expositions, announced the Aix-Marseille Provence metropolis on Monday. The local community is launching the production of 1.35 million reusable fabric masks. They will be distributed free of charge to each of the inhabitants of the metropolis.

In addition, the Bouches-du-Rhône department will distribute 700,000 cloth masks for municipalities that are located outside the Marseille Provence metropolitan area, which covers, among others, the municipalities of Aix-en-Provence and Marseille.

Fifty jobs created

Fifty jobs have been created, according to the city, to manufacture these masks. They will be conditioned by an establishment and service for work assistance (Esat).
