Rock sheep is included in the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species in 2012. It is one of the important protected wild animals on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It mainly lives in the bare rocky areas of high mountains at an altitude of 2,000 to 6,000 meters.
In recent years, with the increasing environmental protection efforts in Golmud City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, the world ’s endangered wildlife such as the “rock wall elf” rock sheep and the country ’s rare and precious wild animals such as Tibetan antelope, Tibetan wild ass, and yellow sheep have become effective.
