  • After Edouard Philippe's announcements, the conditions for deconfinement are becoming clearer in the cities. In Bordeaux, wearing a mask should be compulsory on rue Sainte-Catherine, in parks or on the quays.
  • For screening, three "drive tests" will emerge. Two for cars, one for pedestrians.
  • The city will soon present a new traffic plan with facilities for cycling and walking.

The countdown has started and since the Prime Minister's announcements, we have been busy in town halls across France to be ready on May 11. "Not for deconfinement but for the loosening of containment," said Nicolas Florian Wednesday during the first city council in an epidemic. For a few days, the mayor LR of Bordeaux multiplies the announcements in particular in the press what his opponents reproach him besides.

He therefore took advantage of this meeting between elected officials to give more details on his method and his wishes for the future. For this, he invited a somewhat special guest, the director general of the CHU, Yann Bubien. The latter in particular answered numerous health questions and in particular on the testing policy. 20 Minutes takes stock around ten days from May 11.

  • The compulsory mask in many places

This Thursday, Bordeaux Métropole launches its distribution of "general public" masks by mail with the objective: "80 to 90% of the population must have received one in the week of May 11," says Nicolas Florian. As a reminder, if you are alone, you will receive a mask, if you are two it will be two and then for more households, it will be necessary to make a request to the town hall to obtain a room per person. And the Bordeaux people will need it.

Indeed, if the mask is compulsory in all public transport in France, the mayor of Bordeaux wants to extend the measure to the platforms of stations, to busy arteries such as rue Sainte-Catherine or the quays of the Garonne, in parks and finally in markets. To impose this, the city councilor plans to issue municipal decrees.

  • Three "drive tests" to screen the population

This will be one of the biggest challenges of deconfinement. Screening of suspected cases in order to isolate the infected people as soon as possible. In Bordeaux, Yann Bubien announced the establishment in the coming days of three reception centers for the general public. Two drive tests for cars in the Pellegrin and Haut-Léveque hospitals and one drive test for pedestrians in the Saint-André hospital. Health authorities will be able to test up to 3,000 people a day from May 11.

The process will be fairly simple to follow, according to the director of the CHU: "If you have any doubts, you will have to call 15 and people will be dispatched in particular to these '' drive tests ''. Same thing for general practitioners since as soon as there is the appearance of the slightest symptom, patients will be redirected to these centers ”. The objective here is also very simple for the Gironde prefecture: "We have to kill in the bud all cases". A map with the screening centers should be drawn up before deconfinement.

  • Room for alternative transport

Until this Thursday at the end of the day, the presentation by Bordeaux Métropole of the plan to take over the TBM network (health and safety measures, amplitude of transport, etc.), cycling and walking should be encouraged by the Bordeaux town hall. Nicolas Florian will present his new traffic plan for the city next Wednesday according to information from 20 Minutes. Currently, a working group is working on new cycling routes, notably on the boulevards and in the city center.

Other avenues are being studied, such as lowering access fees to the VCub or increasing the number of self-service bicycles. Will certain streets be completely closed to vehicles to encourage soft transportation? It is still too much to say. One thing is certain, Fabienne Buccio, the prefecture of the Gironde, has already announced that special measures will be taken for rue Sainte-Catherine after a meeting next Monday with shopkeepers.
