The expression Enemy of the State we know from Hollywood films. It has become generally accepted for those who aim to inflict maximum damage on their country. Such, in fact, terrorists regularly top the list of the most wanted criminals maintained by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. Osama bin Laden was there at the time, and now Filipino Radullah Sahiron is hanging.

With external enemies, everything is clear. We also have such in Russia. The question is what to do when such an enemy not only occupies a high position, but also leads your country. Do you think this does not happen? Well then take a closer look at Brazilian President Jair Bolsonar.

A former soldier, a man of extreme right-wing views and a frenzied populist, Bolsonaru came to the control of a huge country with a very unstable, albeit a promising economy and a huge gap in the quality of life. 12 million Brazilians live in favelas, where crime and unsanitary conditions flourish. The most brutal videos about gang wars and attacks on people appear on the network from Brazil.

What allowed this populist to win? Everything is simple here: doubled in five years, unemployment, increased violence in the streets, disappointment of Brazilians in politicians, plunged the country into an economic crisis, and excessive bureaucratization of all processes in the state. Bolsonaru aloud admired the military dictatorship of 1964-1985, praised authoritarian rulers like Pinochet, promised the police the right to shoot without warning and ease the rules for acquiring weapons.

Bolsonaro was also cool about international agreements. He was even going to get out of the Paris climate agreement and, in general, did everything he could to argue that Brazil didn’t care about the flora and fauna of the economy. In fact, Donald Trump ensured victory and entry into the main office of the country in January 2019. The American victory and the radical slogans broadcast by him were liked not only by the Americans. By the way, Steve Bannon, a member of Trump's cabinet, was an adviser to Bolsonar.

In general, what they wanted, they got it. I wrote three times in my Telegram channel that almost every statement and every act of Jair is a well-deserved facespalm. But it only gets worse. Coronavirus has put new demands on the authorities in different countries, but what about when you have a saboteur in power even without an epidemic?

Populism is also bad because its adherents do not rely too much on their victory and do not seriously plan to answer for the words spoken.

At the same time, populists are gaining points all over the world, because there is fatigue from the situation, external and internal shocks and disappointment of voters. They think: “Well, let's give a chance to this handsome one from the series (like in Ukraine). Won't it be worse? ”

Will be. And Bolsonaru is one vivid example of many. Drive the wave - do not toss the bags. In less than a year, this man has already signed his helplessness and offers everyone doomed to die from COVID-19. A month ago, he said that the infection of Brazilians does not catch.

So, while listening to or watching the next populist on YouTube, do not forget: he will not fulfill the promise if he wins. Irresponsibility before the election and during the election race does not disappear. There are no miracles. Moreover, those that promise us are empty.
