[Commentary] On April 28, the Director of the Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chen Zhaoshi announced that people arriving from the Mainland, Macau and Taiwan are required to have a 14-day compulsory quarantine regulation, namely Chapter 599C of the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations The "Regulations on Compulsory Quarantine for Certain Arrivals" will expire on May 7, and the SAR Government will extend the regulations for one month to June 7.

　　[Commentary] Chen Zhaoshi stated that the regulations specify that people arriving from the Mainland, Macau and Taiwan or those who have stayed there in the past must undergo 14 days of compulsory quarantine. The epidemic situation in the mainland has improved significantly in recent days. However, Hong Kong hopes to continue to control imported cases caused by cross-border traffic and the second wave of infections caused by foreign cases. Therefore, it was decided to extend the regulations. She added that if certain conditions are met, the quarantine order for the arrival of the mainland or Macau will be cancelled. The SAR Government is discussing and will announce the details in due course.

　　[Commentary] Chen Zhaoshi pointed out that since April 11, there have been zero cases of newly diagnosed new coronary pneumonia in Hong Kong for five days, and the number of units has maintained single-digit growth for the remaining days. The SAR Government has decided to exempt compulsory quarantine arrangements for two categories of people, including cross-border students and professional service providers required by Hong Kong.

　　[Commentary] Chen Zhaoshi emphasized that Hong Kong is still in a public health emergency in the next few months. The SAR Government will also amend Chapter 599D of the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations (Prevention and Control of Diseases (Disclosure of Data) Regulations). The validity period will be extended to August 31, and anyone must disclose travel records to doctors and other relevant parties.
