A Chinese study published a few days ago indicates that air conditioning could play a role in the spread of the coronavirus. Doctor Jimmy Mohamed believes, however, on Europe 1, that it is necessary to take this information with tweezers because, at this stage, nothing has really been proven.

New wacky theory or real problem? According to a research letter published in the journal Emerging Infections Disease, air conditioning and air conditioning could spread the coronavirus. This study, published by several researchers from the Middle Empire, indicates that ten people from three different families were infected with Covid-19 after eating in the same air-conditioned restaurant in Guanghzou, China . One of the three families came from Wuhan, the Chinese epicenter of the pandemic that is hitting the planet today.

"First of all," says doctor Jimmy Mohamed, "I invite people to be careful when studies bring fairly extraordinary conclusions". "Let's be patient, the week after may contradict the previous study." In addition, scientifically, the aerial transmission of the Covid-19 has not yet been proven.

WHO has never proven that virus transmission by air is possible

To support his remarks, Jimmy Mohamed takes the example of the flu and a broken down plane forced to land in Alaska, in the United States. One passenger had the flu and several others contracted it later. The hypothesis of airplane ventilation and airborne transmission was then put forward.

"Except that on closer inspection," says the doctor, "we realized that those who contracted the flu had all gone to the toilet located next to the passenger who had the flu initially". "Which means that it was the droplets expelled by the patient that could contaminate the others and not necessarily the air conditioning circuits."

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS

> How many deaths at home should be added to the epidemic?

> What is the purpose of AlloCOVID, the telephone platform that uses artificial intelligence?

> Why we will have to wait before finding masks in pharmacies

> Coronavirus: can the MMR vaccine be dangerous for children?

> These platforms which help to find a job during confinement

The World Health Organization (WHO) has never shown that airborne virus infection is an established theory. "It is therefore possible", concludes doctor Jimmy Mohamed, "but nothing is less certain".
