Significant reduction in Shinkansen and air flight reservations Even during large holidays, calling for refraining from going out April 29, 6:14

Although the large holidays have started this year, the number of reservations for Shinkansen and empty flights has decreased significantly as the movement to refrain from unnecessary and urgent outings spread.

According to JR companies, as of 4:00 pm on the 28th, the occupancy rate of unreserved seats on the Shinkansen was below 10% for most of the ups and downs of each line.

It means that during the long holidays until the 6th of next month, the number of reserved seats on the Shinkansen has decreased to about 5% of the same period last year.

Air flights continue to drastically reduce the number of flights on domestic flights during the large holidays, with 85% for ANA and 60% for Japan Airlines.

The reservations of domestic airlines have decreased to about 7% of the same period last year.

On the other hand, the traffic volume is decreasing on expressways all over the country, and the traffic volume of passenger cars and small freight cars in the main sections at the end of this month is about 50% to 60% on weekdays and 2% on Saturdays and Sundays compared to the previous year. It means that it has dropped from 30% to 30%.

From the 29th to the 6th of next month, highway companies will not apply the 30% discount on weekends and holidays on local highways except Tokyo and Osaka, and also cancel the traffic congestion forecast announced every year.

On top of that, we are calling for refraining from unnecessary and urgent outings such as going home and traveling across prefectures.
