No relaxation in view of deconfinement, and especially not for the elderly. Before the Assembly, Edouard Philippe called on Tuesday the seniors to "continue to protect themselves" after May 11, by limiting their contacts and their outings. However, this measure will not be subject to control.

“We will ask our seniors to continue to protect themselves. They must respect rules similar to the period of confinement, (...) by limiting their contacts, and therefore their outings, "said the head of government, asking them" patience "before the National Assembly. "By protecting yourself, you are protecting the hospital system," he added.

“Precautionary” visits

These recommendations are intended to be implemented according to a "principle of trust and responsibility": "there will be no control, no exit certificate for the oldest among us," said Edouard Philippe. . "Private visits, when they resume, must be surrounded by precautions, like outings," he said.

During his intervention on April 13, President Emmanuel Macron had suggested that the elderly should remain confined even after May 11. But he said a few days later that it would not be an obligation, saying he was opposed to any "discrimination" between citizens for the post-May 11 period. The Ethics Committee (CCNE) had also estimated at the beginning of April that reinforced confinement of the elderly should be temporary and that they should be given the opportunity, even limited, to move around.
