  • The Pays-de-la-Loire region, which is one of the areas least affected by the epidemic, could have more latitude in the deconfinement plan.
  • The ARS warns however that adjustments will be made "continuously" and that it will react "at the slightest sign of resumption of the epidemic"

What loomed is confirmed day after day. Nationwide, the Pays-de-la-Loire region has been “relatively spared” from the coronavirus epidemic. With a total of 326 deaths still recorded in hospitals, according to the last count, the territory seems to have managed to cope with the situation, especially in terms of available resuscitation beds. This Tuesday, 94 patients were there but the saturation was never felt, even after welcoming patients from other regions, estimates the ARS. "We have never exceeded the necessary 180 places, which was our initial capacity," says Dr. Pierre Blaise.

While Prime Minister Edouard Philippe mentioned on Tuesday that the departments would be classified into two categories (red and green), the five components of the region could easily be in the first, if the situation does not deteriorate suddenly from here the. With 2,902 confirmed cases of Covid-19 this Tuesday evening, the number of new patients only increases by around 2% per day. "Containment clearly produced these effects," repeats the ARS.

"Settings to be made continuously"

So, how can we control the evolution of the epidemic, once deconfinement has started? If a greater latitude will probably be granted to the “green” departments, one should not imagine finding oneself back to one's former life, warns the ARS. Especially since according to the Pasteur Institute, only 1.9% of the people of the Loire region have been infected, and therefore potentially immune. "There will be adjustments to be made continuously, with more stringent measures at the slightest sign of resumption of the epidemic. The deconfinement will be progressive, for everyone. The prefect is to unveil the first elements of his plan this Thursday.

To adjust the rules, the authorities will look at different indicators, such as the rate of contagiousness. In normal times, that of the virus is 3, that is to say that a person contaminates three others, and so on ... But in the region, this figure fell to 0.7 which allows this extinction gradual spread. "We must keep this rate at less than one, it will be one of our barometers," announces Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director of ARS. One of the sine qua non conditions is the respect by our fellow citizens of barrier gestures. They must continue to feel confined in their minds, because it only takes a social gathering to spread the virus. "

While the government's strategy is to increase the number of tests, both for symptomatic patients and contact cases, the Pays-de-la-Loire region estimates that between 3,500 and 4,300 screenings will have to be performed each day. “Our current capacity is 4,000 tests, but we will increase to 8,000 as of May 11, or even 12,000 in June. »Positive cases must be isolated for fourteen days, at home or in accommodation provided. The authorities have already started to list the places available in hotels.
