State of animal health in the village of Rayane in Mauritania

Animal health is serious business for two main reasons. There are diseases that can wipe out a herd, which is an economic disaster for a family, or even an entire region. Second reason: certain diseases can pass from animals to humans.

Specialists distinguish between so-called viral diseases, bacterial diseases and parasitic diseases.
We are going to the village of Rayane in Mauritania. In this locality, it will mainly be about animal health with farmers, field agents from the Ministry of Rural Development, and local officials of the Regional Support Project for Pastoralism in the Sahel.
On the road to Rayane, it only takes a glance at the landscape to realize the effects of climate change. Deforestation, then desertification, too strong demographic pressure around water points, overgrazing, all this affects more than 20% of the earth's surface and 80 million people. And animals are no exception. No need to be an expert in breeding to realize the damage that can cause animal diseases on already fragile organisms.
