Tetsuya Watanabe (81), who had been living on the street for more than 20 years in the city of Gifu, was killed on the 25th of last month, and the police suspected of murdering three 19-year-old boys in the prefecture on the 23rd. Two 19-year-old male students belonging to the baseball club of Asahi University in the prefecture were arrested on the basis of suspected injuries and sent to the Public Prosecutors Office on the 25th.
The police are investigating the five people assaulting Mr. Watanabe, such as throwing stones, and three more people chasing after 900 meters and killing them.
In a subsequent investigation, some boys made a statement to the effect that they threw stones at Mr. Watanabe even before the incident last month.
Mr. Watanabe consulted with the police four times last month, saying, "I was thrown stones by several young people." It seems that other boys who were not involved were also involved.
Police are investigating how the boys escalated the case in a short period of time.
