A video clip, aimed at celebrating a "new era of partnership" between the Philippines and China, amid the outbreak of the Corona Virus, sparked criticism on Saturday by angry Filipinos.

The Chinese embassy in Manila had released a video clip containing a song called "Isang Dagat" (One Sea) on social media on Friday.

Since then, the song has sparked angry reactions from Filipinos, who have criticized the image of a sea shared by China and the Philippines, in contrast to the status quo in the disputed South China Sea.

One of the angry people said in a tweet, "The West Philippine Sea belongs to us," referring to the disputed area by its Filipino name.

Another, in a tweet, also asked the Chinese embassy not to talk about "one sea", adding that "no one forgets that you have mistreated our fishermen."

According to the Chinese embassy, "The song is intended for those who contributed to our war against the epidemic of the two countries, especially a team of Chinese medical experts (who visited there to help) the Philippines."

On Friday, the Philippine Ministry of Health recorded 211 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, which raises the local toll to 7192, and records 15 additional deaths, raising the death toll to 477.
