• Bring your own meal or play in the playground without touching? These are the health rules to which students should comply from May 11, according to several publications published on social networks this Thursday.
  • Such recommendations exist, but are currently in force in schools which receive the children of nursing staff.
  • In reality, nothing has yet been done for the start of the May 11 school year because the government has not yet made public the deconfinement procedures.

Recreations by class without touching the slightest ball or meals brought back from the house, this is what back to school could look like after the end of confinement. In any case, this is the meaning of several messages broadcast since Thursday evening on social networks.

Several accounts claim to have received a document from the Montpellier Academy specifying the instructions for the start of the school year on May 11.

On the subject of recreation, where contact should be avoided as much as possible, the instructions are particularly restrictive: "Care must be taken to respect the safety distances in outdoor games, to prohibit contact games, handball and all those who do without objects, as well as play structures whose contact surfaces cannot be disinfected, ”the document says.

Big change also on the side of the canteen. No lunch served to children. “Each student brings their meal with their cutlery. Parents will therefore be recommended to provide children with the means to keep their meal until noon (insulated bag or freezer block in the bag). At the time of reception, each student places their meal in a plastic bag identified with their name, without touching the outer edges. The plastic bag is handled by a supervisor. "

A new organization that did not fail to react to many Internet users, surprised by the revelation of these new provisions for the start of the school year on May 11.

FAKE OFF

20 Minutes has obtained the document containing the recommendations relayed on social networks. Written on April 2 by the Montpellier Academy, the nine-page document gives black and white instructions for staff welcoming students. Except that these have no link with the start of the school year on May 11.

“This document was sent at the beginning of April to several interlocutors such as school directors for example. It concerns the reception of children of nursing staff cared for in certain schools since the beginning of the health crisis. These are not directives planned for the start of the school year on May 11, ”assures the Montpellier Academy, at the origin of this document.

Fuzzy communication

So why did this document and its recommendations come out several weeks after their initial dispatch? Anthony de Souza, school teacher and co-secretary of the SNUipp-FSU union in Hérault, has an explanation.

“Apparently, the document was sent on Thursday to at least two academic districts in Montpellier. But the academic director of Hérault told us this Friday that these were indeed instructions for the reception of the children of personnel essential to crisis management. The fact remains that this confusion comes from the vague communication of certain inspectors of National Education ”, tackles the trade unionist.

The government is still working on the subject

Currently applied in the schools where children of nursing staff are admitted, these measures are not planned, for the moment, for the start of the school year on May 11. The government is currently working on this delicate subject.

“On Tuesday, we were on videoconference with the academic director of Hérault and the prefect. To all our questions, we were told that it was premature to answer anything on the subject. Everyone is waiting for the national instructions at the earliest next week and then think about a local adaptation ”, continues Anthony De Souza. The Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, detailed the main lines of the return to school before the deputies on Tuesday.

Different rules depending on the territory

This highly sensitive subject of returning to class is also the subject of much talk among mayors, who are in charge of managing the nursery and elementary schools in their commune. The return to school must be approached "with flexibility and pragmatism and stem more from a spirit of experimentation essential before the start of the school year in September than from a desire to constrain and impose a uniform system", announces the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) in a deconfinement preparation document.

The key word should therefore be adaptation and the measures applied will be different depending on the territories and specific cases. Recreation and lunch may not be managed the same way everywhere in France. A sacred site.
