  • "Where the rate of contamination and spread of the virus is very low, we must be able to implement a faster deconfinement," said Christelle Morance.
  • The president of the region is particularly worried about the most impacted sectors such as hotels and restaurants.

A faster deconfinement plan from May 11 in Pays-de-la-Loire: that's what the region's president (LR) Christelle Morance is asking for. The day after a meeting between Edouard Philippe and the presidents of the regional councils, the elected official decided to address the President of the Republic directly, via a press release.

"I ask Emmanuel Macron that the Pays-de-la-Loire region, among the regions least affected by the virus (infected population: 1.9% against 12.3% in Ile-de-France and 11.8% in the Great East), can work on the implementation of an accelerated deconfinement plan, and in particular for the sectors most affected: the hotel, catering, tourism ... which to date have no prospect of recovery, ”she asks.

"Saving businesses and jobs"

While the term "differentiation" mentioned by the Prime Minister raises questions, the president of Pays-de-la-Loire gives her interpretation: "It is up to the state to fix the common rule (social distancing, protective measures, etc.) .) - and it has to be as clear as possible! -, to the territories to then adapt the rhythm of the implementation of deconfinement according to the health situation where they are. An adaptation that will be closely coordinated between the prefects, the health authorities and all of the local elected representatives. ”

Asked about this, the regional prefect was more cautious. "This is indeed part of the questions and options currently on the table," says Claude d'Harcourt, who hopes to be able to announce "clear directions" in a few days. "The challenge will lie in removing the risk of having to leave in confinement, a scenario that no one wants. All this therefore calls for the greatest caution. "For Christelle Morance, this option is obvious:" Where the rate of contamination and spread of the virus is very low, we must be able to implement a faster deconfinement to save businesses and jobs, and to allow families to try to find a more normal life, "she writes.
