"Germany will pay the costs of caring for [European] patients, because this is our concept of European solidarity," said Health Minister Jens Spahn. The costs are expected to reach almost 20 million euros.

Berlin currently supports "more than 200 European coronavirus patients" and has "the capacity, if necessary, to accommodate more," added the minister.
